PROJECT SUMMARY: 

        Having a Tree House is a wish by all. Who does not like to climb up a Tree House, breathe fresh air and see a view? And why not a Tree House in school?

        The school community of _____________fell in love with the idea of having a Tree House right inside the school campus. Never in the faculty's wishlist could the school have one, or so they thought. But then hope came into fruition. With willing hands to help and spontaneous kindness and generosity of _______________, the construction of what teachers call "stress reliever", _____________School Tree House is on the line. 

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

   With the pandemic now on its second year, learning delivery is non-stop. ___________________opted for Modular Delivery of lessons during the New Normal. Teachers make modules, print and distribute them. Parents return the modules as soon as children finish answering them. With a big student population, the number of modules to check by the teachers is overwhelming. In addition, there are feelings of anxiety and apprehension for safety of oneself, loved ones and the workplace. All these add up to a good amount of stress felt by the teachers in their daily lives.

        Several times each day, teachers long for a place to relax and for a while breathe deep and find solace from stressful moments.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

        The project aims to:

        1. provide a corner/nook in school that helps the teachers and others find comfort and relaxation;

        2. relieve stress from daily work;

        3. energize the body through rest and deep breath; and

        4. promote healthy living.

PROJECT METHODOLOGY:

        Teachers' welfare is foremost. Teachers are provided with regular physical check-ups as well as medicines/vitamins as safeguards for COVID 19. While teachers are grateful for all that the department has provided, teachers also need aesthetic healing, in this case a place that could relieve them from stress, may it be work-related or not. The initiative of the school in constructing a Tree House is in response to this dilemma. Everyone felt the need for it. It provides the much-needed energy so teachers can continue to serve.

        There is no exclusivity to this project. The ____________Tree House is for all who need a little peace and quiet amidst the fast and busy pace that we experience each day. All are welcome - students, parents, stakeholders and visitors, to savor its solace, replenish energy lost and start anew.

          The school's Tree House should be properly located within the campus. The tree/s where the tree house is to be constructed should be of hardwood and strong variety. Selection of materials for construction is vital, one that could withstand weight. Limit to the number of persons the Tree House can accommodate should be put up, as well as Rules and Regulations for its use posted visibly within the area. Limits to age group and number of children allowed to the Tree House should be discussed. Only children accompanied by older person (teacher or parent) are the only ones allowed in the Tree House, those without companions assisting are prohibited for safety concerns.

            D. Project Cost

PROJECT IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY

        We are in a crisis at the moment. The crisis' impact is far-reaching and people are affected in different ways. As service-providers, teachers continue to teach even at this time. The work must go on. The ______________School Tree House Project helps the teachers by providing a healthy mindset to face the challenges of each day. A go-to place that will rejuvenate and make them feel energized to continue. A "stress-reliever" within the campus for all who need a little peace and quiet.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION:

        Regular monitoring is needed to sustain the usage of the Tree House. The structure is to be regularly inspected with regards durability and strength of materials. Safety is a main concern. Recommend if there be need for changes or replacement of parts and improvement. Monitor the usage and review comments of users.

Gabaldon Schoolbuildings of the Philippines: A Legacy of over 100 years  When I came across an article about Gabaldon schoolbuildings to be restored, I could not let the opportunity to write about it pass by. Why? A big part of my life was spent on these buildings. I could still remember how we, as graders in Cebu Normal Laboratory School, used to clean those huge Capiz windows because visitors were coming, and scrubbed the already shiny planks of the wooden floor with our coconut husks, with 6 of us lining up holding on to each other, scrubbing the floor together in rhythm, that way we could finish cleaning the wide floor right away.
