each row. Have them stand at the

end of the aisle of each row at

the back. As soon as the teacher

flashes flashcards containing the

basic sight words, the first one to

with both feet together forward.

Whoever reaches the blackboard

first, wins the game.

- use the short paragraphs in the

compilation First Step in

Reading booklet.(see previous posts)

Presentation

Activity

1. Motivation: What are the things

that God has made?

2. Video Presentation: All Things

Bright and Beautiful by Cecil Frances

Alexander (song form - youtube)

3. Reading of the Poem: All Things

Bright and Beautiful (on manila paper

highlighting rhyming words of every

stanza)

- Teacher reads the poem.

- Pupils read the poem.

4. Comprehension Check:

- What things in nature are found in

the poem?

- Who made all of them?

- Shall we thank God for all these

things He has given us? How can we

show that we thank Him for all

these things He has created? How

do we take care of His creation?

Analysis

1. Look at the 1st stanza of the poem,

what two words at the end of each

line rhyme or have the same ending

sound? Teacher writes on the board

the pairs of rhyming words found

in the 1st stanza. (Teacher do the

same with the other stanzas.)

2. Pupils read the rhyming words

listed on the board.

Ex. beautiful - wonderful

       small - all

       sings - wings

3. Ask: Look at the pairs of words.

Do they have the same ending

sound?

What do we call words having the

same ending sound?

Abstraction/Generalization

1. Words having the same ending

sound are called Rhyming Words.

2. Can you give examples of

rhyming words?

Practice

Application

1. Interactive Video: Pupils read

the sample rhyming words

in the video.

2. Memory Game:

Teacher writes 5 pairs of rhyming

words at the back of 10 flower

cut outs. She posts these on the

board in a jumble with the words

facing the board. Teacher calls a

pupil to flip open 2 flower cut outs.

If the pupil flips open the wrong

pair, she places it back again on

the board, then Teacher calls on

another pupil. Pupils should

remember which flowers are

a pair.

3. Search and Pair Activity:

Look for words under the chairs

and search for the pair to form

rhyming words.

4. Group Activity- Differentiated

Tasks

during group activity

Easy: Paste a ๐Ÿ‘on the blank

if the pair of words rhyme/have

the same ending sound and ๐Ÿ‘Žif not.

that does not rhyme with the other

words.

Difficult: Choose the correct

rhyming word to complete the

nursery rhymes.
