are you? Who are the kids of the so-

called Glass Generation? GenZ is

generation?What's the secret of

Millennials being the happiest

generation?

Generation Alpha

I've often heard of misunderstandings

between parents and their children

in the home,

or clashes of opinions

in the workplace, and I, formerly

from the academe, have had difficulty

in adjusting to my Millennial students

before,.and most likely, to my opinion

they were results of an age

gap or a generation gap. A generation

besides being a group of people

born and living at about the same time,

may have similar ideas, problems,

and attitudes. I, for one, was born

in 1961, and I belong to the generation

of the so-called Baby Boomers who

were born from 1955 to 1964. While

all generations have similarities, there

are differences among them as well.

It is good to note that harmony

between generations can be achieved

by knowing what defines each

generation.

What then is a generation

*A generation refers to people born

and living at about the same time,

regarded collectively.

*There are psychological and

sociological dimensions in the sense

of belonging and identity that may

define a generation.

So, to what generation do you belong?

What are considered as important facing

the generation of today? GenZ and

Millennials consider inflation as the top

problem of today and overdependence

and addiction to technology ranked

second among young people.

The young generation is important being

society's main agents of change and

progress. They represent the future.

Skills like communication, teamwork,

critical thinking, resilience and

flexibility which are important

for work and life need

to be taught to the younger

generation of today.

True, there is diversity in the family,

workplaces,in the classroom due to

differences in generation; however,

with acceptance and acknowledgment,

these differences in habits, attitudes,

work styles, can be overcome.

Understanding that each is unique, and

adjusting to differences, brings out

harmony, thus bridging the gaps.

Generations help each other to live

together in the world. There is reciprocity

between all generations. Adults provide

support to elders to address their physical

limitations and elders in turn assist

adults through their vast experience,

provide emotional support and help

in the care of children.

In the workplace, diverse generations may

have varying workstyles resulting from

limited knowhow on the use of technology

or having different levels of education of

the workforce, it is best to acknowledge

and understand these differences.

At home, success in parenting lies in

being open to new ideas and loving

unconditionally.

And in the classroom, to study

generational traits of students and adapt

teaching styles to fit classroom

needs.

Bridging gaps across generations.
