RetireeLyf: 2nd Trip to North Cebu, Virgin Beach Resort- ideal for teambuilding activities, farm visit, Bamboo Forest

 RetireeLyf🌿🌿🌿:2nd Trip to

North Cebu: Our Stay at Virgin

Beach - ideal resort for corporate

teambuilding activities, Visiting

my Parents' Land, Bamboo Forest

One more time to the North!πŸ‘† About 3

months ago my husband Joy and I

again for the 2nd time this year, went

on a road trip on our motorbike to my

hometown at the northern tip of

Cebu - the municipality of

Daanbantayan.

Back of Daanbantayan Municipal Hall

Again everytime we travel to the North

and  elsewhere, we wake up at 4:00 AM

and make an early start. We started the

100+ km- ride promptly at 4:30, still

quiet dark in Lapu-lapu where we are.

We caught up again the early morning

Mass at San Agustin de Hippo Church

in Carmen, Cebu.

Catmon, the next town to Carmen, was

already up and about, signalling another

busy day ahead, and we caught this on video.

See... the roads up north are excellent,

well-paved although rather narrow,

nevertheless so much different when

was a little girl travelling these same

roads with my parents in the '70s to

early 80's. Back then some parts

were already asphalted, but dirt

 roads most of the way.

We passed by Binabag upon nearing Bogo

City. You can't miss this range of

huge mountains and story has it that

during the Japanese Occupation,

the Japanese Army camped out

in Binabag, thus having a vantage point

overlooking from these huge mountains.

Now the slopes of the mountains

are planted with sugarcane, a beautiful

sight to see.

Binabag

We went straight to Daanbantayan

Municipal Hall upon arriving at the

town. There we settled some matters,

then on to our stayplace where we

were booked for a few days.

There are two resorts near our barrio.

We stayed in the previous one the last

time we came (on another blog post),

so off we go to this other one - still

near the beach and this one has a

wide area and offers many amenities.

I had been there once before,

so many years ago with my beloved

Te Aida who passed away early this

year.  Now the place is a surprise!

The pool is bigger and there wer

huts that dotted the property. Single

bungalows provide comfortable

accommodation each with a

veranda/balcony of its own.

The place can accommodate many

guests. There were also cheaper

aircon rooms that we opted to stay in.

There were walkways for early

morning jogging and a karaoke hut

for those singing sprees. But, I miss

the lush greenery and romantic nooks

of the previous one we stayed in.

Now here we are at Virgin Beach

and Resort - - - - -

big , sprawling, and fun, fun, fun.

The view infront of the Main Building's
Balcony. The sea is beyond those coconut trees.

Joy entering our room from the back
veranda circling the Main Building.
All rooms in the Main Building have
two doors, one exiting to the back veranda
and another door inside the room exiting
to the lobby/restaurant in the middle
of the Main Building.

Wide spaces perfect for large groups
like for group/corporate teambuilding activities,
the karaoke hut is on the far right.

Walkways or jogging paths

View from one of the cabanas beside

the beach -

volleyball court, basketball court,

mini-obstacle course,

long slide at the swimming pool

Before we left, the resort welcomed

teachers from Compostela District

having their Teambuilding Session

there for two days.

We had a nice stay - comfortable and very

affordable - Virgin Beach and Resort!

We knew we would be busy during this trip.

So, the following morning, off we went to

my parents' land. I hope one day I can call

it a farm...one day...

Mama Saling used to bring me here during
corn harvest time. But when there was
a dispute (which eventually got settled),
she came less and less. To this
day, a bit of heartache for me for not
having come more often.

And...here I go again...my oh my those goats!
She's  way more good-looking than I am
hahaha. I was so fond of her, but look what
the camera caught, it's as if I was crying!
Jessica Sewards of Roots and Refuge Farm
in YT whom I subscribe to is partly to
blame hahaha...my fondness for these
beings started with her, whalaaa!

Opportunity also to visit Imelda and
Belen (they live adjacent to the field) and
see their growing goat herd.

Having accomplished what we meant
to do for this trip, on our way back,
passing by the Aisle of Medellin
that long stretch of a straight highway
made famous by weekend bikers,
the flowers on the huge pots lining it,
maybe numbering more than a hundred,
were in full bloom. I told my husband,
I need to film this. And so I did...

Another must-see spot in Medellin is the

Bamboo Forest. Now for the 2nd time,

we went to see this spot again which is

in the middle of  sugarcane fields.

We weren't able to have pics since it

was raining. This that I post was from

the first visit.

Bamboo Forest

Although travelling, even to one's

hometown, is tiresome, it is full

of positive effects.

One is you get out from the daily

grind and...

relax, see a view, as they said. More so

with seniors, but you need to plan

not to overload your vacation with

too many activities. If you were not

able to do all that you planned like

swimming and other fun activities,

then it's okay, maybe, next time.

No cramming, you're not taking a

test! Once you cram, you get irritated,

then that takes away the enjoyment.

Arriving back at Lapu-lapu City,

we were dead-tired. But after a

day's rest, a treat!πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

The place is familiar? We heard mass at
Basilica del Sto.Nino, πŸ™

then ate pansit guisado and halo-halo
at Papsy's. What a way to end a trip
from up North!

And by the way before I miss it...

A quick buzz on the cheek on our last
day at Virgin BeachπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Mga seniors mo oiiii
bahalag ubanon πŸ˜†

pang good vibes lang!πŸ’–
