Sample narrative for application video of teacher applying abroad

*Made this narrative for a friend's application video when she applied for a teaching post in a foreign land. This is based on her inputs and long experience in her career.

I wake up each day looking forward to another wonderful day with my students. My classroom is my "happy place".

Hi, everyone. My name is Teacher____________ and I teach grade schoolers in the Philippines.

Before going home in the afternoon, I prepare my classroom so that it will be ready for the following day. I want to assure parents that their kids are in good hands - my students have a comfortable room for learning and a safe second home.

Being with kids not only rejuvenates me each day, but also another opportunity to touch lives through teaching. To me, teaching is not only a profession but a vocation, not duty, but service.

Seeing kids "light up like an incandescent lamp" so to speak, for having just learned a particular skill, is one moment caught in time, and moments like these I replay in my mind's eye over and over again. The joy of teaching!

It has been said, "Teachers have 3 loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two together."

Teaching of life skills like math equips a child to tackle real life situations, today and more so in the future. In class, I teach content and make learning fun through activities like puzzles, mazes, and group work. In group work, they learn how to be in a team and contribute to the success of the group.

My take on inclusivity is trying to create a welcoming learning environment for all my students where they feel safe to express their feelings and learn to listen and respect others. I want my students to feel they belong. The acceptance and attention they need, they find in school. They come to school everyday because they enjoy being with their classmates and teacher. And we could celebrate accomplishments and small successes together. And when setbacks happen, I try to tell them they are a natural part of learning and living, and that doing it right the next time around is what matters most.

Teachers inspire. By encouraging curiosity and wonder, these will lead to creativity. Kids find enjoyment in the different class activities and projects they do. "A healthy mind in a healthy body", play is an essential part of children's growth, too.

Overall as a teacher, I aspire to be a caring individual to my students as I influence my students to be kind and caring individuals too, as we, I together with them, go on with our learning journey.
